Rupert Cornelius has been supplying area women with
comfortable, unique, casual clothing for 46 years.
After 42 years at Hilldale, a bold move to Monroe Street was in order.
Monroe street is an integral part of a popular west side neighborhood.
It is bordered by Camp Randall football stadium and Knickerbocker Square.
The many( 60 plus) locally owned businesses that line the street make for
an original shopping experience.
The mix is complete with restaurants and bars, unique specialty stores,
Trader Joes, and the new Hotel Red across from the stadium.
Instead of retiring, Julie Cornelius chose to reinvent her business.
With the help of her son, Justin Machus , (who owns an upscale modern men's store in Portland Oregon ) the store was deconstructed, reconstructed and thoroughly modernized while keeping all the natural stone and glass front. We repainted/re plastered/ took out a wall and added window boxes and metal stand alone racks. All in 30 days!
